Speak Tiles are key to any RichCast. They can be titled at the top, and an actor can be selected using the dropdown on the right. The actor panel can also be accessed by clicking on actors. Text can be added in the top box, which will be spoken by the actor. Notes can be added underneath. Voice Tuning can be accessed below and can be used to add inflexions to highlighted text using the options that appear. See the section on Voice Tuning here.

Voice acting can be added using the upload button - replacing text to speech. Speech-to-text can be accessed using the microphone button. The Tile can be previewed using the playback buttons.

Creators may wish to use the Script Editor to see all the Speak Tiles in their project for faster editing. See the section on the Script Editor here.

Tips and Advice

Speak Tile

Ensure the names of characters, objects, and places you describe all vary with reasonable differences.


Use the Voice Tuning Replace feature if a word is said strangely to alter the pronunciation.


If possible, use Voice Acting instead of the A.I. Voices. While we are happy with our providers, Voice Acting can still provide more dramatic performances and a more immersive experience. Only record when your script is final.

You should title your Speak Tiles - It could help you debug later when the complexity grows.

Don't have lines and lines of text. Sometimes less is more. If a lot of text is required, split it into multiple Speak Tiles. We recommend two lines per Tile.


Consider the nationality and age of your characters, and use a voice that’s appropriate. We have a filtering system to find the perfect voice.


Play around with the pitch and speed of voices, but be careful as the voice can get distorted after excessive altering.


Use the notes box for a small character profile. This'll prove beneficial if you decide to do Voice Acting down the line.

General Writing Tips

Consider the length of your RichCast. We recommend making your Titles 10-15 minutes long, either standalone or episodic.


Have your introduction short - less than a minute - with more details dripped in later.


Use the classic three or five act story structure.


Limit narration where possible. Can the player work it out themselves?


Use a companion character to drive conversation and give information, perhaps instead of a Narrator.


Try out comedic timing. This is a unique aspect to voice-based storytelling!


Mention the task the player needs to complete at the end of the dialogue that gives said task. This will help refresh them and know what they’re doing.


Have primary and secondary goals that the player can complete. You may consider mentioning these at the end of the Title, to let the player know there’s more to do.


Have mechanics that challenges the player and makes them feel empowered when they complete, but doesn’t punish them harshly when they fail.


Don’t introduce more characters or scene description beyond what is necessary to set the mood.


Don’t kill your character from one bad decision! Consider whether to set them back a little way and give consequence to bad choices. Always let your Player take an informed decision.


Don’t construct one linear story that has just very tiny, meaningless branches off the main thread. 


Don’t make your RichCast impossibly hard. What might make sense to you could baffle someone else and frustrate them.


Consider adding a Hint system for your RichCast. Because RichCast is played using voice, it’s easier for players to forget their next steps, or any clues they may have found towards their goal.
